How to Transfer a Blogger Blog to WordPress
Blogger is a blogging platform -- and for users who don't have their own URLs, a free hosting service -- operated by Google. WordPress is an unaffiliated blogging and hosting platform. Both Blogger and WordPress include a feature that allows you to export your blog in XML for hosting on another blogging platform and import XML files you've exported from other platforms. Transferring your Blogger blog to WordPress requires only a few clicks of your mouse.
Step 1
Log into Blogger. Click the "Settings" tab, then the "Basic" subtab. Click "Export Blog," choose a location on your computer where you want to save the blog file, type a name for the file and click "Save."
Step 2
Register for a WordPress account if you don't already have one. Click the orange "Sign up Now" button on the WordPress homepage, enter your desired blog address, username, password and your email address, and click "Sign Up."
Step 3
Log into WordPress, then click "Import" in the "Tools" menu along the frame that runs along the left side of the screen. Click "Browse" to peruse your hard drive for the XML file you downloaded from Blogger, click the name of the file, click "Open" and wait approximately 30 seconds for WordPress to transfer the file to your new blog. Your Blogger blog posts now display within your WordPress blog.
Tips
Blogger-to-WordPress transfers are easy, but they aren't foolproof. Although elements of your posts, such as their titles, dates published and tags, always remain intact, formatting, such as font, spacing and the arrangement of pictures, doesn't always display in WordPress precisely as it did in Blogger. Skim through your blog after you import it to WordPress and make manual corrections as necessary.
